A new act that appeared briefly was Whipflash (Photo, above). This husband and wife team of Jim Frank and Lauren Muney are based in Maryland and do a very original display of whip marksmanship. They are also adept with fire (Photos, left and below) and at the end of the day do a bullet catching trick!
This season also gave me a chance to see performers I've missed in past years. One such razor-edged act was Christophe the Insulter (Chris Buehlman) (Photo, right). For a price he will insult friend, foe or stranger for your pleasure with the degree and creativity of insult proportional to the fee. No one, no matter how high or low, is safe from his brilliant acid tongue!
