Members of the TRF cast and Royal Court dance to several stately tunes during Opening Ceremonies Sunday morning of Halloween Weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Noble (and not-so-noble) couples display their ballroom prowess in the first segment of this video, followed by ever-changing foursomes including patrons visiting that day. In the final segment, King Henry and Queen Catherine join the dancers for a bit of Royal fun. |
Ded Bob has to be one of the classic shows on the Midwest Renaissance Festival circuits! On Halloween Weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival 2007, he officially opened his bid to become the next President of the United States with his skit "Ten Reasons to Vote For Ded Bob. Truly wry humor, at its best! |
Billed as the "music troupe for the pirate in everyone" in the 2007 Program Guide for the Texas Renaissance Festival, the Bilge Pumps are very well known for their wacky, sometimes ribald, sense of humor. Who else but a Bilge Pump would lick the lens of a camcorder during the TRF Noon Parade on Halloween Weekend??? Here they sing their version of "Danny Boy" during their Saturday morning performance at the Wharfside Gazebo at TRF. WARNING: this is NOT -- REPEAT, NOT! -- the loveable Irish cliche everyone (non-Keltic) thinks is the acme of Irish music. This is the Bilge Pumps singing, NOT the Mormon Tabernacle Choir!!! |
According to the 2007 Program Guide of the Texas Renaissance Festival: "Cast in Bronze was created to showcase the haunting beauty of the carillon by demonstrating its versatility with other instruments. The carillon is played by a silent and masked 'spirit' who appears to breathe life into the instrument." They forget to mention that two tons of bronze bells can get mighty LOUD, betimes! |
A brief clip of the Celtic band, Crannog, playing at the Wharfside Gazebo on Halloween Weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival 2007. According to the official TRF Program Guide: "Crannog is known for their adventurous arrangements of traditional music. 'Thrash Celtic' at its best, they feature primarily Irish songs and Celtic tunes set to fiddle, concertina, percussion, guitar and vocals." |
The lovely ladies of "Shunyata Bellydance" shimmy and shake Saturday afternoon during Halloween Weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival. According to the TRF Program Guide: "Shunyata is the personal dance project of Silvia Salamanca from Mallorca, Spain; and Angelina from the United States. They convey in their dance the Spanish gypsy's fire, the Greek's joy, the Tunisian's softness and the Moroccan's mystery..." This clip features two segments from their Saturday show: a slow sword dance and a rousing finale, showcasing many of their more awesome moves. |
