While not new to Scarborough 2003 -- they first appeared in 2002 -- it was great seeing that the Mud Faeries were back again! As usual, the male Fey was busy sculpting an awesome dragon (Photo, Above, with Detail of the head, Left). Fortunately, their sculpture "pit" was shaded most of the day, so spectators like myself could tarry and watch their creations grow under the guidance of the Mud Faeries' skilled hands! This, BTW, was a small dragon by Mud Faerie standards. Had I been able to return to Scarborough later this year, I'm SURE I would've seen a HUGE, pot-bellied, smoke-blowing dragon of epic proportions well before Closing Weekend!!!
Of course, not everyone has to be entertained at faire. Fact is, some folks bring their own entertainment with them -- like this group (Photo, Below), playing "Dungeons & Dragons" in the Food Court area at Scarby. If nothing else, the Renaissance atmosphere of the festival must've provided a whole new dimension to the imaginative play of these "Kights of the Picnic Table"! Alas, I could not join them -- nor was I able to return to Scarborough at all for the rest of the 2003 Season. Mayhap next year, tho, I'll be able to go more often...or, at least, try to make the National Jousting Tournament on Memorial Day. See you all there!
