COSTUMES AND CHARACTERS

The Holly Field was the scene for much courtly dancing and merriment this day. Here, the Lady Bestine (right corner) calls out the steps while keeping time with a handheld drum.

A street scene at the crossroads by the Crown Kitchen. While a visiting Bishop declaims loudly to a small audience, a street vendor pushes his cart to a new location in the background.

The sound of pipes and drum drew Ryleh to this pair, playing near the Scots' Camp by Yorkshire Tower. The fence here is a recent addition -- although whether it's intended to keep the Scots in or the sheep out is a moot point!
