VIEWS
        Of The
        GEORGIA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL 2003

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: these two views -- taken just inside the Main Gate at GARF (Photos Left and Below) -- show some of the details of construction. Apparently, the architect who created this entrance had some familiarity with Medieval building design: the gate towers display a strong Germanic influence, while the covered walkway above the entrance is a very nice touch! Now obviously you can't tell a faire by its' Main Gate -- but GARF certainly put its' best foot forward right from the start!!!

There were towers and spires aplenty at GARF (Photo, Left: the faux cathedral of "Ancient Arts" handcrafted jewelry, for one; Photo, Right: the tower at the north end of Caxton Field, for another; Photo, Below: yet another tower, but slightly more fantastical than the others).

One greatly-appreciated feature of faire landscaping not readily apparent in these views was the amount of SHADE which GARF provided for its' patrons. Let's face it: it does get hot in Georgia well before May, and it doesn't get any cooler as faire season approaches Summer! So having plenty of mature trees scattered across the grounds was most thoughtful -- and most appreciated! -- when the Georgia sun reached its' peak in the afternoon (Photo, Below)!!!
