THE ROYAL JOUSTS
        at the
        EXCALIBUR RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL

It was a real pleasure to find that Noble Cause, one of my favorite jousting troupes, was playing at Excalibur this year! As always, they put on an outstanding demonstration of fine horsemanship and knightly feats of arms. Here, (Photo, Above), Sir Michael, AKA the Green Knight of Rosharon AKA Michael Beaman, bears down on a squire holding a small hoop in his hand. Not only did he carry it away deftly with the tip of his lance, he then (Photo, Below) came back to catch another hoop tossed into the air!

Full contact jousting was also part of the entertainment. Here, (Photos, Above and Below), Sir William, Lord of Whitehall (AKA Bryan Beard, Leader of Noble Cause) (at left) bears down on Sir Geoffrey of Castillo AKA Jeff Cavazos (at right). Alas, but I missed the moment of impact, when both knights shattered their lances most chivalrously on each others' shields!
