ST. LOUIS PIRATE FEST 2010 -- While this event has gone on for several years now, this was the first time Ryleh was able to attend. It didn't hurt that 'The Sea Dogges,' a local singing pirate band out of Springfield, were also there as performers for the run of the festival!
The ARKANSAS MEDIEVAL FORTRESS 2010 Ryleh and a few select members of his family visited the site of this fortress-under-construction, slated for completion sometime in 2030. Knowledgable tour guides and craftsmen explained how -- using only local materials and authentic Medieval construction techniques -- they would eventually raise the walls and towers of this French-style fortress. Definitely worth a trip back every year, just to see how construction has progressed.
ROSE O'NEILL'S FAERIE GATHERING 2010 -- Although this was a small affair as far as renaissance festivals go, there was some real Magick afoot both days of the Gathering. 'Elven Drums' certainly acted as a catalyst, but everyone who attended contributed mightily!
BARATARIA PIRATE & FAERIE FESTIVAL 2010 -- Pirate and Faeries, together -- a "First" for Springfield, Missouri! Many of Ryleh's White Hart friends showed up for this event as well as "Faerie reinforcements" from the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.
ALL ALONG THE CLOCKTOWER -- The design and construction of the Medieval clock installed at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival in 2005 are detailed in this brief article.
THE TROLLHAMMER STRIKES AT MUSKOGEE -- A photo essay on the design and construction of working trebuchets on display at The Castle in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
GULF WARS XII -- Every year, the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA) hosts three national "wars" for their Stateside membership. In 2003, Ryleh traveled to Gulf Wars with his friends Kiko and Regina. This is their story.
THE NORTH TEXAS IRISH FESTIVAL 2003 -- What do Rennies do for a "Faire fix" when Winter's winds blow fierce and cold? Why, move indoors for a rollicking weekend of everything Irish, of course!
"EDITORIAL -- WITHROW FAIRE: A SOUTHERN REVIVAL" - The question is not which Faire came first, but which Faire was the first revival of an old Southern Tradition!
