Welcome to Aviana's Nest on the Web!
Since she is of the Air, Aviana doesn't stay in one place for very long -- and she is easily sidetracked at the best of times. Aviana is Pure of Heart and Thought, although if she does do some mischief she always does it in such a way that it won't harm others. She has NO concept of Evil or Hatred. When confronted by such things, Aviana is most likely to run away!
The Texas Renaissance Festival is Aviana's home faire. She can usually be found somewhere near Lord Entropy's Tower, in Sherwood Forest, at the Faerie Picnic or in the Magick Garden when she isn't flitting about wherever the Wind may take her! She may sometimes be found at the Excalibur Medieval Fantasy Faire and, occasionally, at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival.
Regina, Aviana's Mortal Avatar, went to the Texas Renaissance Festival for the first time in 1993 -- and immediately set her heart on being a Faerie! It was six years later, however, before Regina actually realized her dream.
Aviana herself was originally inspired by a short story Regina found in the Time-Life series on Faeries and Elves. With that inspiration -- not to mention the example of other TRF Faeries and her own creative talents -- Regina and her mother created Aviana's wings and costume. Everything in Aviana's costume was handmade by Regina and her mother, except for Aviana's belt and pouches. The belt was provided by Lord Entropy, while the pouches were acquired from various merchants at the Renaissance festivals Regina visits.
From concept art to finished costume, the entire process took about four months!
Yes, you can now write directly to Aviana! Please send all your comments and questions to:

THE WORLD OF FAERIES FESTIVAL
"We are the originators of the first Illinois Fairy Festival [held in Elgin, Illinois, every August since 2005]. Shop in our website store for the best in Butterfly fairies, and fantasy art of Jessica Galbreth, Nene Thomas and Linda Biggs. We also carry a line of metaphysical, fantasy and celtic silver and gemstone jewelry as well as our very own fairyscapes (miniature forest scenes)."
THE 'OBBY 'OSS FESTIVAL
"Hobby horse festivals are May festivals wherein a 'hobby horse' --a costume worn by a single person and bearing only the vaguest of resemblances to a horse -- dances through the town and performs various rituals. A remnant of ancient May Day celebrations, the 'Obby 'Oss is now enjoying a modern revival."
LINDA RAVENSCROFT -- offers up her vision of faerie and fantasy art on this, her official website. The site opens on her online store, but it's her galleries, archives and private commissions that will capture your attention immediately. Even so, there is still more to explore here, so take your time and enjoy it all!
OLLURE: FAERIE PHOTOGRAPHY -- Christopher Lee Jarvis "concentrates solely on fairies and fantasy imagery, with dreamy forest locations and beautifully costumed models" in all his portraits. Check out his galleries for samples of his work! He has also out in appearances at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, the Ardmore Renaissance Faire and the World of Faeries Festival in years past.
