Portrait of Aviana

Welcome to Aviana's Nest on the Web!

Aviana is an Air Faerie, born directly of the Wind. As such, the Air itself is both her mother and her father to whom she will one day return. Therefore, while Aviana has many Faerie friends, she herself has never been a member of the Faerie Court. Instead, she spends most of her time high in the sky, flying among the clouds and chasing the Wind, coming down to Earth only briefly to rest her wings.

Since she is of the Air, Aviana doesn't stay in one place for very long -- and she is easily sidetracked at the best of times. Aviana is Pure of Heart and Thought, although if she does do some mischief she always does it in such a way that it won't harm others. She has NO concept of Evil or Hatred. When confronted by such things, Aviana is most likely to run away!

The Texas Renaissance Festival is Aviana's home faire. She can usually be found somewhere near Lord Entropy's Tower, in Sherwood Forest, at the Faerie Picnic or in the Magick Garden when she isn't flitting about wherever the Wind may take her! She may sometimes be found at the Excalibur Medieval Fantasy Faire and, occasionally, at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival.

Regina, Aviana's Mortal Avatar, went to the Texas Renaissance Festival for the first time in 1993 -- and immediately set her heart on being a Faerie! It was six years later, however, before Regina actually realized her dream.

Aviana herself was originally inspired by a short story Regina found in the Time-Life series on Faeries and Elves. With that inspiration -- not to mention the example of other TRF Faeries and her own creative talents -- Regina and her mother created Aviana's wings and costume. Everything in Aviana's costume was handmade by Regina and her mother, except for Aviana's belt and pouches. The belt was provided by Lord Entropy, while the pouches were acquired from various merchants at the Renaissance festivals Regina visits.

From concept art to finished costume, the entire process took about four months!

Disclaimer: Aviana will be happy to discuss Faerie costumes, accessories and the details of their construction with you, but please! No questions about her wings. These were handcrafted by the Fey Folk themselves, following an age-old design handed down through untold generations of Faerie. As such, the details of their construction are a closely-guarded Faerie secret which Aviana is simply not allowed to reveal to anyone. Alas!
